Thursday afternoon, 3:15pm
I’ve got about 45 minutes left in my day but I’m already burnt out and I just don’t feel like working anymore. Thought I’d write up an entry since I haven’t done a catch-up one in over a week now I think.
Friday, July 2nd – Everyone on my team got to leave early. The building technically closed at 1pm. But us Part-Timer’s don’t qualify for any paid time off, including holiday pay. So we all had to work our normal shift. (For me, that’s 10am-4pm.)
I was having problems with my email and I had put in a help desk ticket days before. That day, around 2:40pm, they contacted me and started doing some work to switch me over to a different server. Then, he had me re-open my Outlook and it didn’t work. He asked me to give remote access to my PC. So I did.
And then proceeded to sit there until 4:25pm while he tried to fix it! Not only did I not to get to leave early with everyone else, I wound up having to stay LATE because this stupid guy took so long fixing my email issue. So frustrating! The parking lot had like 4 cars in it by the time I left including mine! It got fixed but man that was a crappy way to start a holiday weekend!
Saturday, July 3rd – The beginning of our rainy weekend. It rained all day Saturday and Sunday.
In the morning, I loaded up the dishwasher, went to start it and it put a few inches of water in the bottom and stopped. Couldn’t get it started back up. Called the apt office and they said all the maintenance guys were gone until Tuesday. Lovely.
I wound up heading out and getting a hair cut. Love talked me into it. I was so frustrated at my hair because it was just so limp, lifeless and generally pissing me off and it desperately needed a trim. So I had a 4:15pm appointment and got it trimmed up. He went a little shorter and a little more enthusiastic with the layers than I asked but it looks good. The longest layer is just at my shoulders with some face-framing layers as well. I took pics but they’re at home and I’m at work, so if I remember, I’ll post later.
Sunday, July 4th – One of my Aunts was in town for the weekend (down from NJ) so my mom called me a few days before and asked if we could come by one of the weekend days to visit. We had plans to hit one of Love’s friend’s houses on the 4th for a BBQ and he’s not far from where my Mom lives so we figured we’d save gas and do both on the same day.
We got to Mom’s around 1:20pm and hung out for about two hours just chatting. It was good to see my Aunt. She’s also my Godmother and my favorite of my aunts actually. She’s also the one who is a breast cancer survivor. (She’s doing good by the way which is wonderful to hear as always!)
After that, we head about 10 minutes over to Love’s friend Steve’s place to meet his new girlfriend, her friends and have some BBQ and such. His girlfriend seems nice but damn, her friends that came over too were awful. Total white trash. I tried to pop off a quick post from my cell that day but it doesn’t seem to have ever made it. (Don’t know why.) Anyway, they were talking about having gone to this club and saw some gay guys and they were laughing about how they yelled, “fagot” over and over at them. (And she kept demonstrating by yelling it at the table.) It was all Love and I could do not to start a fight over it. That shit is just not cool. I have no tolerance for bigots. The only reason we didn’t say anything was because we didn’t want to cause a scene, but Love took Steve aside and said he did not appreciate that kind of talk. Steve agreed and said he didn’t know the friends of his girlfriend and he didn’t really like them either.
We had to leave shortly after that anyway so thankfully, we didn’t have to deal with those assholes any longer.
It poured most of the day and into the evening so we just spend the rest of our evening on the couch, watching TV and hanging out with each other.
Monday, July 5th – Since the 4th was on a Sunday, both Love and I had the day off. Which was nice. I had a headache most of the day which sucked, but it was good to have another day off to relax.
In the afternoon, someone knocks on the door. Turns out one of the maintenance guys got back early and came by to check the dishwasher for us. It was still full of dirty dishes and a few inches of water but he opened up the motor panel, fiddled with it and got it running. Thank goodness. We had been washing dishes by hand the last few days since we were out of almost everything (with the dishwasher being full and all) and that sucked. My hands and skin hate most things including dishwashing soap.
Tuesday through Today – Tuesday was back to work of course. Wound up being 45 minutes late because my stomach just wouldn’t calm down enough to let me leave the restroom. But at I had Wednesday off.
I had a gift card I used at Marshal’s and bought myself two pairs of Capri pants. I needed more things I could wear to work and this is something I can wear on my days off too. I also scored a Pyrex measuring cup for $2.99. So I was quite pleased. I hadn’t gotten any new clothing items for awhile so even two pairs of pants was a nice addition. One is beige and from The Limited and the other is grey with blue pin stripes. Very pleased.
Today, my stomach is continuing it’s week+ misery fest and I’m so tired of it being this way and getting sick at work and such. So aggravating. No one should have to live this way. It’s just not fair and it sucks. It’s also one of those things that makes you feel like why do you bother? Why put up with this much aggravation trying to get into a job you hate, you know? Grr.
Anyway, wow. I’ve been typing for like a half an hour now. It’s like 3:45pm now. Whoops! Heh. Guess I should get this sent and make another call or two before I head home. Thank goodness tomorrow is Friday. I so didn’t want to be here today, let alone come back tomorrow but at least the week is almost over.
Ta for now.
