The weather was absolutely perfect and we wanted to take advantage of that. It&#8217;s been a VERY hot winter and since the festival runs February &#8211; April, it only gets hotter. And a sweltering festival makes for a very miserable time. But yesterday&#8230;oh, it was glorious weather. Clear skies, cool breeze, almost no humidity, about 70F (21C) &#8211; just perfect!<\/p>\n<p>Love and I got there around 12:30pm and stayed until about 5:30pm. We wandered, browsed, watched the Human Combat chess, saw the mermaid show and just generally had a lovely time.<\/p>\n<p>I didn&#8217;t really remember to take many pics so here are larger versions of the ones <a href=\"http:\/\/twitter.com\/memoryanddream\" target=\"_blank\">I tweeted<\/a> yesterday.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/giveneyestosee.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/mermaid-feb12.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/giveneyestosee.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/mermaid-feb12-500x375.jpg\" alt=\"Bay area Renaissance Festival 2012 Mermaid\" title=\"mermaid-feb12\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-2115\" srcset=\"https:\/\/giveneyestosee.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/mermaid-feb12-500x375.jpg 500w, https:\/\/giveneyestosee.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/mermaid-feb12-150x112.jpg 150w, https:\/\/giveneyestosee.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/mermaid-feb12.jpg 1000w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nThe little kids were <I>fascinated<\/i> with the mermaid. LOL And, they had a great money-making scheme; if a kid handed the mermaid a dollar, she&#8217;d dive down to the shell in the tank, pick up a &#8220;mermaid gem&#8221; and bring it back for the kid to keep. Of course, none of them did any of the fighting. \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s a fun time and an enjoyable afternoon! You&#8217;ll be tempted though by lots of yummy smelling food and lovely crafts so don&#8217;t say you weren&#8217;t warned! I&#8217;d recommend splitting an apple dumpling while you&#8217;re there &#8211; it&#8217;s a favorite of ours and no trip would be complete without one.
