Oh man did I enjoy having three solid days off.
Three whole days It was like a vacation! (the sad fact is that my last vacation was a three day vacation and it was like three years ago now *lol*) Let's sum since I don't have time for everything...
FridayEnded up being at work until like 6:30pm - hense the time stamp on the last post being so late. Ugh.
SaturdayUm...what did I do on Saturday...? Um, not much because my bank turned off my atm/mastercard checkcard so I had $3 to my name for a three day weekend. Nice, hu? And even nicer was the fact I found this out
after we ate breakfast at Perkins and tried to pay the bill. Uh-hu, can you say "livid?" I knew that you could. Luckily, our friend Rand was with us or I don't know what we would have done. I mean seriously...if you can't use your card, can't withdraw funds and they don't accept a check - what do you do? *pissed*
SundayMy Love's parents came over early in the morning to see him for his birthday. They hung out for awhile and borrowed a bunch of our dvd's. (His dad got a dvd player from my Love's brother for his birthday a couple weeks ago and they are just loving it).
Afterwards we went to a place called
Pop City in Tampa. It's supposed to be like a combination of gaming center, bar, dance club, etc. It's the place that got some attention recently for one of those boy band boys getting into a fight and getting arrested. Anyway, they had some special where if you spend at least $20 you get it doubled. So my Love, my friend Rand and I got a total of $40 to play. We played some DDR (but could not hear it because the place's own music was SO LOUD), played some driving games, and looked for (but failed to find) some fighting games. Eh, it was fun to be out, but it wasn't that great of a place. Not enough stuff; not enough games. The poor complex itself is really nice - brand spanking new - but empty; baren. Sheesh, it's weird. All these empty storefronts, no one around. What a waste.
When we got home, he set up his birthday present - putting together a new pc system. (he only needed a couple pieces to complete it so we got him a 1gig processor and motherboard, GeForce2 Ti 64meg vid card, and a case) He was so excited. :)
MondayMy Love's birthday. Happy Birthday!
Went back to the same place - collectively called "Channel Side" - because there's an Imax in there and they are showing the special giant-screen edition of Disney's Beauty and the Beast. (my Love and I both love
Disney movies) It was great - holy cow, the Imax is BEAUTIFUL - but the last ten minutes of the film, these strobe lights flash on, sirens go off, and a recorded voice tells us to evacuate the building. We all sorta shuffle out - all 15 or so people - and mill about outside as the confused three-person staff tries to figure out what to do. (I did mention this place is baren, right?) Long story short, they say the theater itself is fine, the alarm must have been set off from an adjoining building, and that they will finish the Beauty and the Beast film only because there is so little time left. They gave us free passes for another movie of our choice and allowed us to go back in the theater. Wouldn't you know it, but the lights came right back on - warning strobe lights along the walls of the whole theater - and continued on-and-off the remainder of the film. No one bothered to get up since they just kept going off and the staff already said they were automated and they couldn't control when they went on/off. Someone at work today told me they heard something about a fire or somesuch, but that's more then I know. I looked around the news sites but haven't seen any such thing. So, its still a mystery to me! :) (a creepy weird mystery to be evacuated from a theater without explanation) Oh well.
After that, we used our gift certificates from Christmas to go to a steakhouse that's in that area. Spent and extra $10 and had a really good meal. Rock on. (mmm...steak...)
It was a great weekend. I'm so glad I had a chance to hang out, talk with, and just be with my Love for an extended period of time. It's far too damn rare these days. (the fact we got OUT and had fun to helps). Anyway, reality calls - ie: my lunch is over - so time for me to close.
An extra special thanks to
Kira for linking my journal on her own. :) Thanks! I've returned the favor. (ps: I like the new layout - she changes it as much as I do mine! *lol*)
