Oh my gods! Thanks has to go to FragileSin for finding this link on how the human population is breeding itself stupid. I've said this for years but never had another site to point to as reference: "smart people are being outbred by stupid people." And you know what? It's true. (sometimes I hate being right).

It goes like this: people with higher levels of intelligence are not compelled by the gutteral, instinctual need to breed. They understand that their actions have outcomes and that a child is a serious commitment and responsibility. Therefore, they wait; happy to ensure spiritual, professional, and personal growth before even considering adding a child into their lives. They take their time, plan their lives, and save their money, building a solid foundation from which to better nurture a child.

But stupid people - people who fall on the dead end of the gene pool and IQ scale - do not logically approach the issue of children. They are more likely to give into "base" instinct, engaging in sexual activity without thought of outcome. And, in turn, they have children - and lots of them. Those children have inherited the wonderful template of genetics from their parents and do the same thing in ever-widening numbers.

And thus, people continue to get more and more stupid.
