Yeah! Came home from Blade 2 and my net's still up! Whoo-hoo! *happy dance* Turned on the cam on and doing some high quality surfing. Right now, I'm blogger hopping - randomly selecting links from other people's blogs to find more I've never read. Just came across this one by fluttergirl and damn is she funny. I love her sense of humor. I'm gonna add her to my reads links so I remember to meander back over there. Like this post It's just too humorous.
Anyway, I'll get into the Blade 2 review later. I feel like mindlessly surfing for now. Ciao.
Nothing like coming home, all excited about being online, spending some quality time getting shit done, only to see that your net is down AGAIN. And it won't come back up. Let's recap the adventure thus far, shall we?
Last Saturday Call Time Warner. Order Cable and Roadrunner. Get Wednesday 12-2pm appt.
Wednesday My Love takes half a day off. Cable and roadrunner get installed. I come home from work, surf all of 10 minutes and it goes down. I reboot the modem (unplug it) and manage to get it back up. Minutes later, it goes down again. I call tech support. They give us an appt for sometime between 12-6pm Thursday. They'll call though 30 minutes prior so we can meet them. We are netless the rest of the night.
Thursday My Love takes another two hours off from work to meet the tech. Tech claims everything is fine. Obviously tech isn't paying attention. Checks the lines, yada yada, my Love demands at least a new modem because something is wrong. Tech gives new modem, says it's ok.
I come home from work. Am online about 15 minutes and it goes down. And comes up. And goes down. Don't get much time to surf because we're moving furnature all night.
Friday It's down again in the morning. I get it up before I go into work and it's down again when I come home. I get it up for about 2 minutes and it's down again. This time, it's really dead and just won't come up at all, no matter how much I try all night long. I call tech support. They tell me that there's almost no power level coming from my modem and that's why it's disconnecting. They tell me I need an "Advanced Tech" to come out. They give me a window of 8am - 8pm! I tell them it's Saturday, I won't be home all day like that. Besides the fact that this is the THIRD time they've been out and I've gotten all of about 30 minutes net time total in three days. That's the best they can narrow it down. I sit and watch tv instead all night.
Saturday (today) Tech shows up at about 11am. At first claims everything is ok, that my power levels are fine. I'm like, Uh, no. points There's no net. So, he proceeds to meander about the house, the jacks, the pc, etc, on-and-off the radio wtih the office for the next hour. He says that there's a possible "chatter modem" in the area that might be causing some errors with our signal - basically, that modem being such a hog that it's cutting our signal out. He also finds the wrong kind of plate (connection) at the box itself that shows water damage and is an old type not really usable with RoadRunner. So he changes that and has the office watching the possible chatter modem for any problems. He's got two more appointments to go to and then will go to the location of the chatter modem and check out their levels to ensure they don't cause more problems. He says we should be ok now. (something I've been told three times now, so I find it hard to believe)
That brings us to today. We're up at the moment, but if I go *poof* again, it's probably me smashing the modem into little, teeny, tiny pieces and setting fire to what's left. I don't know that Saturday at 12:30pm is truly a peek net time - like Friday night - so I may not be able to get back up later on this evening. At least I've been able to post a status.
*sighs*
Fucking Time Warner.
Anyway, beyond the modem-that-won't-not-die, I'm going out to see Blade 2 tonight. It looks sweet. I really like the first one. (Matter of fact, we own it on dvd). A group of us are going, so that should be fun. Ok, need to get ready now, so I've got to meander. See you (hopefully) later. I tried to have the cam on last night, but without net connection, it was sorta useless. When I get back here later, I'll put it back up.
My bank called this morning to give me a hard time about being behind on my car payment...see, they want extra above and beyond the $300 monthly payment (to catch up the past due I owe from when I got behind) and they want it now. blah blah blah. She was trying to be me to transfer money from my tax refund to do it. Hello? It wasn't mine that went in - it was my Love's. It very clearly stated that on the deposit when you look up the transaction history. It's in HIS name. That was exactly why I didn't direct deposit mine. Anyway, I got upset and started to cry. She was just so nasty about it...There's more things in life then my fucking car payment. Sorry, but I'm already stressed over needing $1,000 for my cat with $500 due in the next two-three weeks for his surgery. Its like look lady, tossing you an extra $50 is not my priority now. She just upset me. It just really pisses me off since if I had my checking through someone else, they wouldn't have a right to look at what I'm spending money on. But since it's the same bank, they're all fucking passing judgement on what I spend. Sorry, but there's more things in life then just your car payment. I don't stop needing food, shampoo, gas, clothes, shoes, etc etc etc. just 'cause you think it's inappropriate. I wish I could change banks but everyone else around here's Commercial. I hate commercial banks. You deposit your money 2:01pm Friday you can't have it until 12:01pm Monday. Been there, done that, bounced a million checks. Thanks but no thanks.
Blah. Some day. Thank gods it's Friday. I can't wait to go home and get the hell out of here. It's just one of those days and I don't really want to deal with it today.
OK, getting ready for bed. Sleep...oh blessed sleep....thank gods tomorrow is Friday. Maybe, just maybe I'll actually manage to get something done. ARG.
...or maybe we'll spend an hour and then some moving the furnature all around in the living room trying to fit my Love's pc out there only to move it all back to pretty much exactly where it was. *ugh*
Ok, I want to be like daisey when I grow up. Her site is just beautiful and she's all techo savvy, witty, and cute (and I mean that in a nice, simple hetro kinda way lol). *sighs* Her colors are even cool - and amusingly similar. lol I'm gonna add her to my reads so I remember to meander back over there more often.
Anyway, just an observation. (and a little fit of jealousy. Just a little lol)
Made it to work. Doing ok. Got the cam on. Catching up on stuff. More later if I break for lunch or at least when I get home. I want to get those Renn Faire pics up too so look for those tonight. :)
Ugh. Headache bad. Woke up this morning when the alarm went off to a happy joy joy migraine. *shudders* Had to call work to tell them I'd be in late. (can't drive with a migraine and can't drive when taking migraine medication either - it's harsh stuff)
Anyway, I just woke bad up. Think I better head on in. *whimpers* Head's a beast. This sucks. (but I'm still so psyched about being online and having cable again...woah...so many non-fuzzy channels) *smiles*
I still have a nice Thank You in the works for those of you who made this possible. Got too distracted last night - between the net in general and the outages as well - but look for it tonight when I get home. Love ya all. :)

Woah. I just discovered that the journal looks all sorts of F'ed up on IE 5.0 See, my ie here at home isn't updated because...survey says...I was offline for a year. So I guess I need to update this thingy. So much to do, too much to remember. I grabbed a screenshot that I'll get up as soon as I figure out why my ftp to the domain is screwed up.
Ugh. You wouldn't believe the troubles I've already had. Gods, now I remember why Time Warner is the devil. Immediately after making the last post, RR went down. Dead. Gone. So I call tech support. Get some snotty kid asking if the cable's plugged in. It's like look kid, I've got a Network Engineer (my friend Rand), an MIS Manger (my Love) and I'm a webmater here so I think we're a tech saavy enough to know to check the fucking cable.
Long story short, he tells me something is wrong on this end and that it requires another service visit. Then he starts in on things like Sunday or Friday. Um, hello? I don't fucking thing so asshole, you're telling me that the person set it up wrong, I've already paid, but I'm expected to wait DAYS for you to come back out and set this up? After my Love took half a day off just to get it done in the first place today? ARG. He then offers tomorrow between 12pm-6pm. But, they can call 20 minutes prior to arrival so my Love can leave work and meet them here. Nice. Thanks you morons.
The good thing? It came back up all on it's own. Is it stable? Who knows, but there's the fill-in in case it goes *poof* again. /me sighs... Is a little bit of net too much to ask?
Got an invitation to join the blogcams ring today. It's slogan Watch Us Write is based on people who maintain written journals with photographic content such as an adjoining cam. I thought that was kinda cool, so I signed up. Whoo hoo. That's me. Blogging and camming and other cool stuff like that. :) Just adding the code in so I thought I'd make a note. More later.
So my boss went to Mexico and all I got.... LOL Actually, he did go to Mexico last week for a convention and he really did bring me back a t-shirt. Thought that was kinda cool.
So, the weekend recap isn't really a weekend recap, it's only a Sunday recap 'cause I was here at work on Saturday and I even made a brief post. So, let's skip right past that and get to Sunday - the Renn Fair day!
You first have to understand that the Renn Fair is an annual tradition around here. It almost got cancelled for good a couple years back, but so many people love it so much that they demanded it be allowed to stay. Surprisingly, the city government gave in to the public wishes and here it is still. Beyond this year being the 23rd annual such event, it's also an annual tradition amoung myself and all my friends. (I stash money all year in small increments so I can buy stuff there) So, Rand, my Love and I all plan last week that Sunday was the day. And Sunday he came over to the apartment and we all headed out. Made the traditional stop to pick up the ever important sunscreen (a lovely spf 45 which I'll have to give the name for since it worked GREAT and I recommed it highly) and found our way at the location by about noon. Parking of course was a beast - the main lot is always only half full when they close it off, causing people to scramble for parking on surrounding neighborhood streets, hense the reason for Rand's Jeep (it can off-road) - but luckily enough, we manged to park in a lot not too far away for only $2. The profits went to a local school band, so more's the better.
Turned out to be a record-high temperature day on Sunday, reaching 88 degrees F. (with a 60-odd% humidity factor making the feels-like temperature even hotter). I took a ton of cool pics (42 in all actually!) that I'm sorting through and will make a page for when I can upload them myself from home on Wednesday. (whoo-hoo!) This time around, it was shopping. Next time (yes, we always go more then once) we'll get around to the Joust, the Human Chess, and some of the shows (like the ever-hysterical must see Tortuga Twins). ***ok, tangent time...just noseing through their site and apparently they're looking for footage from last year's show and guess what? MY LOVE AND I WERE PART OF THE SHOW THEY'RE LOOKING FOR! LOL (you can read about it at the time here in my journal achives. It's the very beginning of that entry starting off with "Let's Start Off Light" You may need to actually scroll up to almost the day before to see the actual entry. That is too funny though. I just had to email them to tell them I was one of the people in the show they're looking for. LOL***
I bought myself all kinds of things... (see? saving up and planning ahead is the smart way to do it!) Including this ring:
I also FINALLY bought myself the black angel wings I've been wanting for years, a beautiful print by L. A. Williams, a petwer faerie perfume holder and a Tree Of Life necklace. Mmmm..Stuff! :) I'll get the pics up by Wednesday, I promise. Anyway, we had TONS of fun and there's even more I want to get still. I can't wait to go back. The good news too - I did not get even a smidge burnt. Yeah for me.

Yes, it's the Time Warner Nazi's, but hey, it's that or nothing and I'm damn sick of nothing, so TW it is. I can't believe the price has gone up though from $39.99/mo to $44.95/mo. Sheesh. At least I'm getting the first three months at half price. Ugh. It's going to be - with cable tv - another $70 bill for now and a $90 bill after the three half-priced months ends. Ugh. Like I have the money to spend for that each month...but fuck it! I'm sick of not having very basic things in my life and dammit, that's going to end. I'll figure it out somehow, but I'm going to be online and have cable tv to boot. So there.
Anyway, I'm going to run and get some food. It's lunch time and I'm starving. I'll try to post an entry about how much fun the Faire was yesterday when I get back.
