So, ever since Thursday March 20th, we've had water problems. On Thursday, the water suddenly and unexpectedly went completely out. Nada, nothing, ziltch. Took them about six hours to get it going again (came on after 11pm). After that, we thought all was well, fine, and dandy, but NO, that'd make life too easy. Seems that while the pipe was broken, the water supply got all kinds of contaminated. So....Friday, I went over to work with Ineke on her latest update of the database and had to take a shower there (different county; different water supply). 90% of our county, and about half of another (about half a million people and businesses are effected) are on boil water alert right now. This means you have to boil water (for three minutes!) to use to wash your dishes; boil water before you can use it for anything in cooking; boil your water to brush your teeth; boil water to bath; boil water to make ice cubes; boil water to give to your pets; boil water for everything! Many businesses closed for a day or two because they couldn't function without clean, running water. AND, we're on water restriction - don't use water for anything non-essential (laundry, watering lawns, filling pools, etc. is all considered non-essential). The news channel reported three-to-five days for the ban to be fully lifted. Stop and think for a moment just how hard it is to do anything when the water dripping out of your tap can't be used without boiling it first. For all intensive purposes, it might as well not be there (excepting we can still flush our toliets and that's about it). Ugh. Didn't get to shower today and if the water's not clean tomorrow, I don't know what I'm going to do. Bleck, bleck bleck.

Hrm, let's see...what else. Today we went in search of a bead show that was supposed to be a big deal in the area, only to find it and be faced with an $8 per person admission just to get in the door to look around! My Love and friend Rand came with me with the sole purpose of keeping me company and giving me opinions and such and that would mean $24! just for us to get in the door! Not even buying a single thing! And the guy doing the tickets was such an ass! He was like, "well, they [my Love and Rand] can wait in the lobby" Uh, yeah, thanks there Mr. Genius, I'd loooove if they could just sit around in a 3x3 foot "lobby" while I walk around alone for a couple hours. Joy all around there. *rolleyes* So, we left and headed to a different convention I read about for jewelery and beads and that was only $4 to get in and like twice the size, so we opted to do it. Spent a bunch of money I shouldn't have (payday was Friday and it's hard when you have cash-on-hand you haven't spend on bills yet) but got some nice stuff. One of the ladies at a booth we were both browsing at gave me her wristband to go back to the first place (since the $8 paid for two days - like I'd need to go more then one day *lol*) so I might run down there by myself - ironically afterall - just to look around since it'll be free.

*hums*

Well, I think that's about all the oh-so-interesting news I have to report for now, so I'll call it a night. :)

[edit]WHOO HOO! I just checked the county utilities site and our water ban has been lifted! YEAH!! Water again, oh, just a glorious thing!
