So yesterday, my mom came over and brought back to me
Kush-ka's ashes. The really nice thing was that the vet's office also sent a small vase with three red roses and a card along with it. Red I said for the love of Kush that never dies. I thought that was the nicest thing for them to do; something they certainly didn't have to do, but something that shows just how nice of a doctor and staff they really are. I cried of course, holding the small tin which is all that's left of my beloved grey kitty, and I miss him terribly.
Today, we (my mom came down with me to give me a ride) went to
Petsmart because they offered a free visit for a newly adopted pet. The SCPA required that I have her checked out in a week (ok, so it's been a smidge more then that, but I didn't have the money because of pesky things like rent) and Petsmart will do that checkup for free. Wee! So, if anyone gets a new rescued pet, see if you have a local petsmart that will do the same. Mika's doing good, just has a little plaque buildup, but I got a bottle of this "Max Guard" dental solution which you apply one drop to each side of the molars and it helps break down the plaque and heal inflamed gums. The vet was a very nice woman who was very honest and upfront (we ended up discussing vaccines and tumor relations in cats and she advised vacinations once per three years to minimize the risk and to get the injections done low in a back leg because she feels it's better to have a cat with three legs and alive then lose your cat to cancer that runs down their whole body. A sad-but-true fact I know from experience) and recommended I not let her get any pudgier, but that overall Mika was healthy.
So...that's good anyway. I didn't think anything was terribly wrong with her, but you know, it's always good to hear it from a professional and to have those lingering worries and recent bad experiences with cat health concerns eliminated. Mika came through it well enough, though she really doesn't like the carrier (though I don't think there's a cat on the planet who does) and was feisty at the vet, but she tolerated it well enough and came in the door and munched down on some food, so I think she's already overcome the experience. :)
That's about it for the time being I think. Nine days until my birthday. Eep. TTFN.
