believes growing up is overrated.
There are people on the net that have nothing better to do
with their time
then be nasty to other people online. They post rude comments, spend hours
a day talking about sites they hate so much, that they well, spend hours a
day talking about them. (lame) They mock the owners and posters for their
opinions and their right to free speech. They expect everyone to fit into
their narrow-minded little world view or else they throw a temper tantrum.
To these people I say grow up.
Here's a bit of info people...the web is
a HUGE place. If you don't like what I say here, or who I am, or what I
do, or talk about, or what I look like, or the color of my hair, or
whatever asinine thing you dwell on, go somewhere else. It's
really, really easy. Honest. You just click the little "x" in
the corner of your browser and *poof* the offending, big, mean and nasty
site has disappeared.
I pay for this site. It's mine. That
means I can use it for whatever the hell I want to. Don't like it if I'm
bitching about something in my life? Oh fucking well. Go somewhere else.
Think I'm stupid for expressing my thoughts? Too fucking bad, don't read
them. Somewhere along the line, someone forgot this simple fact: Live
and let live Don't like me, cool, fine, whatever, I don't care.
This journal is NOT for you. It's for me. I'm not in it for popularity or
fame or anything stupid like that. I write it because I need to write and
express myself and get things out of my head sometimes. So read or don't,
it doesn't matter, but don't waste my time (or yours) bitching about it.

Need Some Opinions! I've been trying to come up with a simple overhaul for my jewelry site, PhoenixFire Designs. It grew very chaotically and haphazardly and right now, it's hard to navigate and just not what I want it to be.
So, I'm debating on some basic presentation styles. Like, right now, I list several products on a page complete with information and photos. But it takes several pages to see it all because I'm trying to find a happy medium for page load. But it's become hard to find all the pages and it's just not as smooth of a shopping experience as I'd like.
So, in this mock-up page, I've tinkered with the idea of using thumbnails for all products of a catagory on one page. Then you can click to see the item larger, on it's own page. But the question is, does it do the items enough justice? Are people not going to be interested in clicking the small thumbnails because they don't look as good as the larger images? Or it is easier because you can glance and click what you want?
The mock-up page has both necklaces and bracelets, but the real page would only have one catagory. I just added a bunch of photos in to get an idea of what the page would look like.
Also, the mock-up page has hurrdily compressed thumbnails. I can get them to look a little better then that if I actually do it that way, but it still won't be like a larger photo. But there will be the standard larger photo(s) to fully see the item if you were to click it. I'd make each item it's own page.
So, in sum, the questions are as follows:
1. Do you prefer to have several pages with full-sized images and all information but have to click several pages to see all items?
- or -
1a. Do you prefer one page of thumbnails to see everything and then click each thumbnail to bring up a page dedicated to that one item?
2. Are the thumbnails less appealing then the larger images? Do they have less impact or are you curious enough to click them to see a larger version of the image?
3. Should thumbnails show a small version of the entire necklace (or bracelet) but sacrifice detail or should the thumbnail show a close-up of the feature portion of the necklace but require you to click it larger to get the entire view?
Am I making sense in what I'm asking here? *chuckles* I think I'm confusing myself. Any input is really appreciated. I need to do something and I guess I just need to find out if I should redo it the way it is (full images over several pages) or like the mock-up (one page per catagory of thumbnails that require you to click the thumbnail to see the full piece)?
