There are people on the net that
have nothing better to do with their time then be nasty to other
people online. They post rude comments, spend hours a day talking
about sites they hate so much, that they well, spend hours a day
talking about them. (lame) They mock the owners and posters for
their opinions and their right to free speech. They expect everyone
to fit into their narrow-minded little world view or else they throw
a temper tantrum.
To these people I say
grow up.
Here's a bit of info people...the
web is a HUGE place. If you don't like what I say here, or who I am,
or what I do, or talk about, or what I look like, or the color of my
hair, or whatever asinine thing you dwell on, go somewhere else.
It's really, really easy. Honest. You just click the little "x" in
the corner of your browser and *poof* the offending, big, mean and
nasty site has disappeared.
I pay for this site. It's mine.
That means I can use it for whatever the hell I want to. Don't like
it if I'm bitching about something in my life? Oh fucking well. Go
somewhere else. Think I'm stupid for expressing my thoughts? Too
fucking bad, don't read them. Somewhere along the line, someone
forgot this simple fact: Live and let live Don't like me,
cool, fine, whatever, I don't care. This journal is NOT for
you. It's for me. I'm not in it for popularity or fame or anything
stupid like that. I write it because I need to write and express
myself and get things out of my head sometimes. So read or don't, it
doesn't matter, but don't waste my time (or yours) bitching about
it.

Four Car Accident Yesterday was another red-letter day in the Life Of M. Love had to run over to his parents' house after work. It's near his work and since he's all the way over on that side of town anyway, it made sense to just do it after work before coming home. He's about five minutes away from their house, at a stop when it happens.
There is a car in front of Love, then him, then a car behind him. All of them are at a full stop waiting on traffic or a light change or something of that nature. Well, along comes another car who's not paying attention. He's doing about 45mph when he realizes that there are three cars in front of him at a full stop. Kid slams on his breaks but there's no time and he hits the car in front of him at around 30-35mph. This causes that car to push into Love. Which then causes Love to be pushed into the car in front of him.
Voila. A four car accident.
So Love calls me from his mom's house around 7:15pm. He tells me he just got there. Just got there? I ask. Why so late? (He gets off work at 5pm and his parent's house is a 15 minute drive or so from his work.) He tells me a four-car accident. I said, "Oh" thinking he meant on the way and it caused a backup that he got stuck in. No, he says. He was IN the accident.
A cop happened to be right there so he took an incendent report. Gave the kid a ticket too which I hope means we're not going to get screwed over in the situation. See, Florida has this bullshit called "No Fault" when it comes to accidents. It's really "Automatic Fault" and it's crap. What happens is, under certain types of accidents, it doesn't matter who caused it to happen, there are set rules as to who's insurance covers it. One of those circumstances is a rear-end accident. No matter what happened or who caused it, the person who hits from behind is responsible for the damage. Which is crap because there's any number of situations where you as the driver did nothing wrong and it is the person in front of you who caused the accident. See, so the problem is that we might be liable for the damage to the car in front of Love. Even though he was at a total stand still and was not the one who caused the accident. See what I mean about bullshit in the law?
The hope however, is that because the kid was ticketed and was the furthest car in the back, that he's actually liable for all the damage to all the cars. Because I think I'm going to throw myself off a bridge if anything gets filed on ours and we end up seeing a rate increase for something we were innocent victims of, you know?
The kid had State Farm. So I went to their website last night to get a number. Do you know they don't have a generic 800# anywhere on their site for you to reach them? How absurdly stupid is that? They give you a "find an agent" search instead. Idiots. I don't HAVE an agent. It's not MY insurance. I'm supposed to just randomly pick someone out of the list and call them? It's just beyond fucking stupid not to have a central contact who can look up the account and give you the person you need to speak with. How am I supposed to know who his agent is or who is the one that would handle the report??
Anyway, the plan is to try to call an agent and file a claim. The back bumper is scuffed all to heck and being fiberglass, they can't be repaired, they can only be replaced. The front bumper seems ok though it's hard to tell since there's a bra on the car. Love was fine, though he did hit his head on the steering wheel. (It wasn't a fast enough impact, the police said, to trigger the air bags.) I'm hoping we can get them to cut a check for the replacement of the bumper but instead of fixing it, put it towards a downpayment on a newer car. We depleted our entire savings a few months ago and haven't been able to start again on the fund for a newer car. Hopefully, if they'll just assess the damage and cut a check, we can put that back into savings.
