There are people on the net that have nothing better to do with their time
then be nasty to other people online. They post rude comments, spend hours
a day talking about sites they hate so much, that they well, spend hours a
day talking about them. (lame) They mock the owners and posters for their
opinions and their right to free speech. They expect everyone to fit into
their narrow-minded little world view or else they throw a temper tantrum.
To these people I say grow up.
Here's a bit of info people...the web is
a HUGE place. If you don't like what I say here, or who I am, or what I
do, or talk about, or what I look like, or the color of my hair, or
whatever asinine thing you dwell on, go somewhere else. It's
really, really easy. Honest. You just click the little "x" in
the corner of your browser and *poof* the offending, big, mean and nasty
site has disappeared.
I pay for this site. It's mine. That
means I can use it for whatever the hell I want to. Don't like it if I'm
bitching about something in my life? Oh fucking well. Go somewhere else.
Think I'm stupid for expressing my thoughts? Too fucking bad, don't read
them. Somewhere along the line, someone forgot this simple fact: Live
and let live Don't like me, cool, fine, whatever, I don't care.
This journal is NOT for you. It's for me. I'm not in it for popularity or
fame or anything stupid like that. I write it because I need to write and
express myself and get things out of my head sometimes. So read or don't,
it doesn't matter, but don't waste my time (or yours) bitching about it.
*gets off soapbox*

Sad News
It's been a bad few weeks for animals. Several people I know have recently lost beloved pets. It's been heartbreaking seeing one after another. Then my mom called me today in tears. The vet believs her cat, Socrates, has cancer. Of the liver. And there's nothing they can do about it and the vet has no way to tell her how long he has. This is very sudden. Back in May, his liver enzymes were up so he had some medication and he was doing great. Then, the other day, he was swollen. Puffed with fluids. She took him to the vet and they ran around $400 worth of tests and bloodwork. Everything came back fine. The vet was stumped. They removed some fluid but were going to extract more to make him comfortable Thursday. She brought him back in today (er, technically Thursday since I'm writing this after midnight) and they ran a pathology on the fluid. They're pretty sure it's cancer. She's absolutely devestated. For those of you who are newer readers to this journal, I struggled for two years with my cat, Kush-ka with cancer. It was some of the hardest times of my life. Kush to me was family in the deepest sense of the word. Not just "some cat" or "pet." It was heartbreaking. Socrates is that special to my mom. She says he is her best friend. And anyone who's had a special relationship with an animal can understand that. Socrates was the third kitty in a brief period of time to come into our lives. Kush was found and I knew he was meant to be with me. A few months later, Panda was found and rescued and he joined the household. Shortly after that, Socrates came into our lives too. In 1990, we went from no kitties to three kitties. My mom still has both Panda and Soc. And while Panda is loved, he's always been a shy, cranky kitty that's more gruff. He does his own thing. Soc on the other hand, has always been my mom's cat. He's loved up on her his entire life. Soc will be 16 this October. But now, with this horrible news, we don't know how long he has. And it's breaking my mom's heart. She called me in tears today and I started crying too. I know how hard going through cancer is with your cat. I know how you wonder every day how many more days you have. And I know how awful it is when you come to a point where you have to let them go. My mom doesn't need this kind of sorrow. With her health so poor, losing Soc like this is going to be a crushing blow. I wish I could do something or say something or somehow just make it better. In the end, there's not much any of us can do but wait and let her enjoy him as long as possible. Sad, sad day. It's one thing to know your kitty is getting old, it's quite another to be hit with this out of the blue. Warm thoughts for my mother are greatly appreciated.

PhoenixFire Designs - Bridal Now Open!
I finally finished the new update to include the brand new bridal collection! Check it out here! I'm really excited. I've lined up two purchases so far and I hope it's a sign of more to come. I'll be working on new pieces to expand the collection very soon as well. Know anyone getting married or attending a formal event? I'd appreciate if you sent them my way. You can also use my new banners and buttons to link back to my site. I'll even host the image for you if you prefer. Thanks! Edit 10:16pm - I have been trying to publish this for over TWO HOURS now. It simply is not working and damned if I know why. GRR!! 10:44pm - still not working for no reason. 11:51pm - still unable to post.

Status Report
Not so much an update really, just a brief status post. Today is another bad day (health wise) for unknown reasons (not that is a reason for anything health-wise, it just is) so I've managed to do nothing but nap through the last couple hours of the afternoon. I really want (and desperately need financially) to update PhoenixFire Designs but...blah. I'm just so out of it today and so exhausted. I mean I just woke up from a two-hour nap because I phyiscally couldn't stay awake anymore. It highly sucks when your desire is so strictly limited by your mental and physical limitations.

A Pirate's Life Indeed!
Damn. So, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest has had an absolutely record-shattering opener. The largest single-day opener ever. $55.5 million dollars just domestically and just on it's opening day, Friday, July 7th. It then has blown the doors off the previous opening weekend record. Thought to be utterly unbreakable, the former number one weekend of all time went to Spider-Man with $114.8 million dollars. Potc: DMC? Estimates put it at an unthinkable $132 million dollars "I always thought 'Spider-Man' might have an untouchable record, so $132 million is just mind-numbing," said Chuck Viane, president of Disney's Buena Vista Distribution division. "I don't think anyone could have anticipated being this wildly successful." Hot damn, that's a lot of money. And an amazing success. Yo ho, yo ho, a pirates life for me? Apparently yes! I went to my Theater of Hidden Gold again on Saturday and we watched it. Arriving 30 minutes before showtime, we were the first in the theater, snagging perfect seats. Ah...bliss. By the time the show started, the theater was almost full. The beauty of my ToHG however, is that it is 21 and up so there were no screaming kids in sight. Had we gone to the normal megaplex down the road, we would have had to line up about 1.5 - 2 hours in advance just to get a seat. And they wouldn't have been reclining leather ones either. *grins* Oh ToHG, how I love thee! Oh the movie you ask? Odds are you've already seen it. Clearly by the numbers, most people have! In the event you haven't yet, you should see it. (*SPOILER FREE*) It's a little darker then the first and the humor isn't quite as non-stop one-liners, but it's still excellent and Capt. Jack Sparrow is back in all his wonderful, girly-running glory. (Seriously. Watch him run. It's hysterical. When he runs off, he looks like a girl.) The special effects are good, Davey Jone's crew is freaking creepy, and it definately makes you want to see the third. Fear not! It's a short wait. Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End (as it is currently being refered to) is scheduled to hit theaters May 25, 2007. You've a mere ten months to wait. An enjoyable movie experience. And you know, it's pirates! Arg matey! Go see it.
PhoenixFire Designs - Bridal
I'm just starting an entirely new section of PhoenixFire Designs. It will be dedicated to bridal items. Lots of pretty creams, pearl, and Swarovski crystal. Well, Friday I got a jewelry-making buzz and made three bracelets, a necklace and a pair of earrings so far. They're not live on the sit - though they will be soon! - but I thought I'd put a tease out there and get some feedback. This is the first one I made. Double-stranded, glass pearl and genuine Swarovski crystal. It doesn't have a name yet. This is the second one I made. Also double-stranded with glass pearl and genuine Swarovski crystal - but this time in a pale blue. It's going to be called, "Something Blue." (You know: something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue) Here's the third one. A little simplier, it's a single strand with glass pearl and beautiful AB Swarovski crystal cubes. And last for now.... Here's the necklace. Glass pearl and large, facited round AB Swarovski crystal. In the back is a dangle which will be a graceful addition to a lower-back dress. There's also a pair of earrings which is based off the necklace above. What do you think? This is an entirely new direction for me and I'm trying for classy and special and something really pretty. I'm pleased so far but I'd love to hear thoughts. I'm also thinking of making matching bracelets available in any available color to match say, bridesmaids dresses. Need a lavender instead? No problem. That kind of thing. Anyway, I was kinda proud, so I thought I'd show it off. The new section will probably go live Monday. I've got a few hours of work, formatting and coding to do to get it ready.
