There are people on
the net that
have nothing better to do with their time then be nasty
to other
people online. They post rude comments, spend hours a
day talking
about sites they hate so much, that they well, spend
hours a day
talking about them. (lame) They mock the owners and
posters for
their opinions and their right to free speech. They
expect everyone
to fit into their narrow-minded little world view or
else they throw
a temper tantrum.
To these people I say
grow up.
Here's a bit of info
people...the
web is a HUGE place. If you don't like what I say here,
or who I am,
or what I do, or talk about, or what I look like, or
the color of my
hair, or whatever asinine thing you dwell on, go
somewhere else.
It's really, really easy. Honest. You just click the
little "x" in
the corner of your browser and *poof* the offending,
big, mean and
nasty site has disappeared.
I pay for this site.
It's mine.
That means I can use it for whatever the hell I want
to. Don't like
it if I'm bitching about something in my life? Oh
fucking well. Go
somewhere else. Think I'm stupid for expressing my
thoughts? Too
fucking bad, don't read them. Somewhere along the line,
someone
forgot this simple fact: Live and let live Don't
like me,
cool, fine, whatever, I don't care. This journal
is NOT for
you. It's for me. I'm not in it for popularity or fame
or anything
stupid like that. I write it because I need to write
and express
myself and get things out of my head sometimes. So read
or don't, it
doesn't matter, but don't waste my time (or yours)
bitching about
it.

Dying Monitor So in the next chapter of "101 MORE Things You Need Money For" turns out after about seven or eight years, my monitor is going bad. Joy of joys. It's had some quirky moments in the past when I thought it might be on it's way out, but it's always managed to rally back. It's been a very good monitor to me for a long time now. And even though as a 17" CRT it's woefully outdated by current standards, I still think it's nice and am still happy with it's performance.
Problem is, things only last so long. Particularly when they're electronics. And especially when they are ones you rely on so very heavily. (That crappy old boombox from the 80's in the back of your closet? It'll outlast cockroaches. Why? Because it's not mission-critical for your daily life.)
Yup, it's dying. Keeps acting like it's turning off but not really. It kinda flashes like the image is rushing to the middle of the screen and fading off like it does when you turn it off but instead, it's just a flicker and it takes a few seconds to come back to normal. Hard to describe but definitely "the end is near" warning sign. (Oh and when you DO turn it off on purpose, it makes weird pinging type noises that you know just can't be good.)
Found a nice 17" LCD on newegg.com after reading some reviews on PCWorld.com about monitors. (Click me to see the item!) It's $204 plus shipping. Which isn't a bad price. But... it IS $200 more dollars then I currently have for spending on a monitor. Totally blows. I'm STILL waiting on an order that would get me 2/3 of that amount, but at this point, I'm not counting on it. (Seeing as she contacted me on the 9th to say she wanted to order the items and has been sitting on her duff ever since.) If she DOES order it though, I'd only need about $60 more to pick it up. Anyone want to buy some jewelery? *bats eyes* The funny thing is that the 19" version is only $219 vs $204 but when you factor in shipping, it brings the total to more like $240. (19" version)
I think it's funny that when I looked for reviews of monitors, the categories include things like "30 inch wide-screen." Damn that's crazy. (For your computer? My living room TV is only a 27" non-wide screen!) I'm not looking for anything nearly so fancy. It has to have an awesome refresh rate though because monitors and I have issues seeing eye-to-eye many times but the one I linked seems to be a great option for ease of on-screen reading. The 17" LCD category was the lowest-end they had reviews for! How amusing is that? Still, it'd be plenty for me. So now I just need to come up with the fundage for one. Preferably, you know, before mine takes the final swan dive. PC's don't really work as well sans screens, you know?
Anyway, that's the newest news. Or lack thereof. No big plans for the holiday weekend. (I'd say we could hit Disney but...no passes anymore.) Probably will try to see Pirates 3 because, "Yo, ho, yo ho, a pirate's life for me..." I mean it IS PotC afterall! Beyond that, nothing much going on.
Hope everyone had a nice week and has a great weekend! Cross your fingers that the order comes in and my monitor holds out!
