There are people on the net that
have nothing better to do with their time then be nasty to other
people online. They post rude comments, spend hours a day talking
about sites they hate so much, that they well, spend hours a day
talking about them. (lame) They mock the owners and posters for
their opinions and their right to free speech. They expect everyone
to fit into their narrow-minded little world view or else they throw
a temper tantrum.
To these people I say
grow up.
Here's a bit of info people...the
web is a HUGE place. If you don't like what I say here, or who I am,
or what I do, or talk about, or what I look like, or the color of my
hair, or whatever asinine thing you dwell on, go somewhere else.
It's really, really easy. Honest. You just click the little "x" in
the corner of your browser and *poof* the offending, big, mean and
nasty site has disappeared.
I pay for this site. It's mine.
That means I can use it for whatever the hell I want to. Don't like
it if I'm bitching about something in my life? Oh fucking well. Go
somewhere else. Think I'm stupid for expressing my thoughts? Too
fucking bad, don't read them. Somewhere along the line, someone
forgot this simple fact: Live and let live Don't like me,
cool, fine, whatever, I don't care. This journal is NOT for
you. It's for me. I'm not in it for popularity or fame or anything
stupid like that. I write it because I need to write and express
myself and get things out of my head sometimes. So read or don't, it
doesn't matter, but don't waste my time (or yours) bitching about
it.

already.
Ow Dammit. Stupid headache is turning into a migraine again. I've been getting a lot the last two weeks and I can't figure out why the upswing all of a sudden.
PayPal = Teh Stupid I have a premier business account with PayPal. This affords me the option of accepting all types of payments as well as gives me a debit Mastercard I can use to access (read: spend) the funds in my account.
The card expires at the end of this month. I've been getting emails from them reminding me to activate my new card. What new card? It hasn't arrived yet!
So today I call them. She tells me that the card was returned for incorrect address. Despite the fact that it IS the correct address and that the address is CONFIRMED with my bank account as the correct, valid address. I might also note that the address hasn't changed in like three years since I haven't moved.
Here's where it gets stupid. They can NOT simply resend the returned card to me. I have to either (a) cancel my card right now then apply for a new one and wait about a month to get it or (b) use this card through the end of the month, let it expire, then apply for a new one and wait a month to get it. THIS IS THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM THAT HAPPENED LAST TIME I might add. Two years ago, the same idiotic bullshit happened. The replacement card didn't get delivered. So I had to wait until after it expired to order a new one and then wait for it to arrive. Important to note that the NEW one did arrive just fine, with no change of my address whatsoever in the profile. (Jeez, surprise!)
So now, two times in a row we have the absolute absurdity of being unable to merely resend the card and this figment "incorrect address" issue. It's enough to drive you batty! I hate stupid, pointless policies! You've spoken to me. You've confirmed this is my address. My bank confirms this is my address. Put the damned card back in the mail and wish me a nice day. Don't tell me that because there was a postal snafu somewhere that I'm just "out of luck."
A Word About Walt Disney World Not that I owe asshole, drive-by trolls anything, but I wanted to clear something up. When I go out to Disney, I'm not spending money. It's not like I'm dropping $70 a person each time I'm out there. Disney is expensive to go for one day, but it's not to go in multi-day or annual pass blocks.
Last May, my birthday present was a discounted, Florida-resident only ticket that gave us three days for the price of two. Over the next five weeks or so, I had earned money through surveys, commissions, and through jewelry sales and found myself with a little extra. We discussed it and decided to take advantage of the opportunity and upgrade the three-day tickets to another Florida-resident only type of ticket called a Seasonal Annual Pass. The money I spent on the three-day ticket was applied and for the price of basically three normal days, we now had almost a year of unlimited visits. So, for the cost of one more day's ticket, we now had annual passes.
Florida resident Seasonal Annual Passes give you unlimited visits for one year excluding certain, peak blackout periods. (A couple months in summer; two weeks at xmas/New Year's; and a couple weeks at Spring Break.) It basically gives you about nine months total access to any of the four parks. (Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Disney-MGM Studios, and Animal Kingdom) You can go to any park and hop from one park to another in the same day as many times as you want.
Love and I haven't been on a vacation in over seven years. We only go out for the day when we go to Disney because we can't afford to get a hotel room and stay over. It doesn't cost us any admission to go and the only thing we spend is for lunch and a couple sodas. It's a cheap day, despite sounding like a pricey expense. Being so close gives us a luxury that most people don't have and since it's the only type of "getaway" we can afford, we make use of it as much as possible.
Our passes will expire May 20th of this year. And odds are, there won't be anyway for us to renew them. (Even though you save like $40/person if you renew instead of buying a new pass.) The relatively minor investment last year (broken into two payments and one part being my birthday present) has more then paid for itself. You'd spend a lot more on a tradition vacation like a couple night's stay in a hotel or one plane ticket. Since we can't do either, this is the next best thing for us.
Anyway, that's all I'm going to say about that. Without my AP, I'd never get to go and it was a lucky set of circumstances that made it possible for us to get them this past year. (For the record, the last time we were able to get a Seasonal AP was in 2002-2003.) It's one of the few pleasures in life and I'm going to sorely miss it when it expires.
The Ever-Changing Status of M I've used that as my quasi tagline for a lot of years now. In fact, as I type this in blogger (for my domain journal location which I then copy-and-paste into livejournal) the title page on my browser even says that very thing. It's true though. Life is ever changing and there's always something happening or resolving or forming. So this is one of those update-y type entries where I catch up on outstanding events I've mentioned in the past. Today, we're going to quickly breeze through the subjects in convenient bullet-point format!
Gracie's done with her antibiotics and is back to her normal, crazy self.
Love's on the mend from his emergency dental appointment a week ago but still has a day and a half of his antibiotics to deal with.
I'm heading in for vacation coverage at the temp job this week. I'll probably head in Thursday afternoon since she's only there through Thursday morning. This gives me about $40 extra bucks and increases the number of days I'll be there to eight. (I can desperately use the cash so I'm glad to be heading in!)
For $1.05 more a month, I just took advantage of a promotion my cable company is doing which upgrades my RoadRunner to 15mbps and my Unlimited Florida calling to Unlimited Nationwide. Score! Of course, the promo that was giving me free Cinemax is ending, so I told them to drop it since Skinamax Cinemax isn't worth over $20 a month.
My fatigue has been off the charts the last week or so. I sleep something like nine or ten hours, force myself awake exhausted, putter around for about three hours and then uncontrollably fall back asleep for another two hours or so. It's miserable. I don't know why it's so bad all of a sudden.
And sadly, also on the health front, it's been migraine central around here. Jeez. A person's head isn't ever supposed to hurt as bad as it's been. It's been such a problem that I've been forced to resort to Excedrin more than a few times now. Which I hate doing and try to avoid because I never want to get stuck in the "rebound headache" trap. I think the increase in migraines might be tied into the absurd increase in bone-crushing fatigue as well.
Though, on the good side of the health front, my ear has been pretty much normal the last two days. *knock wood* It had gotten worse Friday-Saturday of last week in that it felt like it was fogged over and I almost couldn't hear out of it at all. But then, it just sorta stopped doing that and I'm not getting the weird distortion anymore either. Let's hope whatever it was, that it's cleared up and won't be a problem ever again.
Finally using my gift cards from way back at xmas, Love and I finally got a new entertainment center. It was on an amazing sale at Target and it's beautiful. (Looks like this but it was much cheaper on sale!) Our old one was in seriously bad shape because it was not only old, but when we replaced our tv a number of years back, it didn't fit in the designated tv space, so we had to remove one of the vertical "walls" which not only lost us the shelf space it used to have but made the whole thing sorely unstable. The new one is sleek, dark ("Espresso" is the color name) and much more modern/contemporary. Of course it matches nothing else in the living room, but I have a plan to try and prime and paint our old coffee table to match. (A la "Trading Spaces." Hey, all those hours spent watching Home Improvement shows should pay off, right? )
I have a pending PhoenixFire Designs order for eight necklaces and eight matching earrings for bridesmaid gifts. I've been emailing back-and-forth with the bride-to-be for over a week now and I showed her some mocked samples. Finally heard back from her yesterday that she loves them. I asked about what payment form she'd prefer and I set up a way for her to pay via credit card. I can't tell you how anxious I am for her to complete the order because wow. It's a huge order and again, that money would be SO helpful. I sent her the payment info yesterday and everytime I get a new email I check to see if it's the notification of payment received. I just want it to go through. I'll be so excited. It'll be, by far, the largest custom order I've ever done. (Also, I got a raincheck for the sales price of the matching component piece to the tv stand so if it comes in, I'll be able to get that one as well!)
We're moving along towards Love's gallery opening. We've got eight framed pieces so far, but we need about 12 more. We're doing everything we can to raise the cash for it, but it's slow going. I've updated his site with a specific page detailing the gallery information. (Anyone who's in the area is welcome to come! It's fully open to the public!) We're also trying to figure out what foods to serve and the most economical way of getting said food. It's exciting though and I'm so proud of him for it.
The weather has been unexpectedly cool the last few days. Quite chilly by Florida-in-March standards. Though sadly, it's not doing anything to hinder the tree pollen which is off the charts. (Making us a national hot spot for allergens. Joy.) Still, it's been amazing to wear jeans, long-sleeves and even a at night, my jacket. Enjoy it while it lasts since once it gets warm, it stays that way through pretty much the entire year.
So...I think that's about all the totally random and unrelated subjects. I went one WAY more then I had planned on, but I guess once I started typing, I kept thinking of subjects I felt like mentioning. A cookie for those of you who got through it all!
