It was a beautiful weekend weather-wise here in the Tampa Bay Area with very low humidity and cool breezes. It was lovely. I wanted to enjoy a little of it, so Sunday we went to Sunken Gardens<\/a>. I had gotten a super cheap Groupon way back in May with the plans to use it when the weather cooled off. Sunday was the perfect chance.<\/p>\n

Sunken Gardens was started in 1903 by a plumber named George Turner, Sr. He bought 6 acres in St. Petersburg and dug down 15 feet below street level. It became a tourist attraction and was really popular in the 1950’s. The State of Florida bought it back in the 90’s I think to preserve it as a historical landmark. It’s right off a busy, major road, just outside the downtown core of St. Pete and yet, when you’re inside, you feel very far removed. It’s very lush and tropical. Not large, but it winds in around itself making it feel bigger then it really is.<\/p>\n

Anyway, it’s also an amazing place for photos. Being Florida, it doesn’t matter that it’s late October. It’s still all very green and lovely!<\/p>\n
