After my boss sent me home yesterday, I went to sleep for about two hours. Didn’t do anything more strenuous after that then sit around and watch a bunch of TV. Went to bed early – was really exhausted. (You know how being sick just takes it out of you.) Woke up like four or five times overnight. Bleck. But still, got a lot of sleep.
This morning, I woke up feeling like the worst was over. I’m still way phlegmy and mucusy and kinda run down, but I’m at that point where I feel like I’ve past the worst of the cold. And for once, my throat is only scratchy and not painful.
We have our bi-weekly meeting at 5pm today so I get to come in a little later to offset staying later. It’s good because it’s giving me more time to relax and get ready at a leisurely pace. I also took a shower which helped me feel more human.
Overall, I’m still tired and too much nasty crap is still coming out of my nose, but things seem to be finally improving.
Hi
I hope this question dont sound condescending, but have you tried an “elimination diet”? Many people are over sensitive to substances like gluten or salicylates without medical science being able to give any clear indication of exactly what they are sensitive to. Not all food sensitivities will show up in a lab test.
Personally I have had tremendous improvement after trying an elimination diet, I now follow more of a paleo style diet(minus the raw veggies) and it has really helped.
While there are some things I know I can’t eat because of my stomach – onions for example – and other things I know I can’t eat as they’re migraine triggering (such as nitrates, artificial sweeteners, etc.) – I do not have celiac or other food allergies. If only it were that easy. I eliminated many things learning my migraine triggers but I’ve never not had stomach issues my whole life. (As far back as ulcers and prescription medications at age 12.) I appreciate the suggestion though.
Sounds like a difficult situation when not even elimination diets helped. An elimination diet can in some cases take some time before its working tough. I sure hope that you do not give up but continue to experiment specifically for a solution to your IBS. After my own digestion improved alot of other ailments have faded.
