Briefly, since I’m supposed to be getting ready, a few good and a few bad things going on.
Good Stuff
We finally were able to get Love’s car fixed yesterday. The belt tensioner assembly needed replacing (badly) and as a result, the car squeaked like mad every time you were in idling. Now, it’s blissfully silent again. It was an important part to get fixed because it’s the thing that manages the main drive belt in the car. It’s needed replacing for like 2 months but we just didn’t have the money. I was finally able to free up enough cash on my credit card to get the damned thing fixed. Yay!
The other good is that it’s been nice and cool the last few days. We went from 87F (31C) on Wednesday to 67F (19C) on Friday! Starbucks was even nice enough to bring back a new version of the Salted Caramel Hot Chocolate this year! It originally came out as the Salted Caramel Signature Hot Chocolate in 2008. They didn’t bring it back in 2009. And then in February 2010, they discontinued the Signature Hot Chocolate. But…even though it’s a little different incarnation from two years ago, it’s still really yummy. Got one at Super Target Starbucks yesterday and drank it down before I was halfway done in the store! Ha!
Not So Good Stuff
Heading up to Inverness today to see my Nanny. (Nanny is my 94 year old maternal grandmother.) She’s in the hospital after taking a terrible fall and landing face-first. She fractured her cheek, broke her orbital eye socket bone and is in pretty rough shape. My sister, mom and I are heading up to see her today and to allow Mom (as Nanny’s power of attorney) to arrange transfer to a rehab facility for a little while before she goes back to her regular living facility. At her regular place, she basically has a studio apartment with it’s own bathroom so Mom’s worried about her being in the room alone and not being healed enough. Anyway, I guess she really did a number to her poor face in the fall. I’m worried about her of course – 94 isn’t a spring chicken – and I can’t imagine how painful that must be.
I admit I’m sick to my stomach just thinking about being in another hospital though. The last time I was in a hospital was for Rand and I was there a lot and of course, that didn’t turn out well. I can really do without going to a hospital again anytime soon but…
Anyway, if you could, keep my Nanny in your thoughts.
Gotta get ready, so that’s my busy weekend so far.
