Since it's now December 28th, I suppose I should at least do a quick recap of the weekend.
Friday 24th – Of course, the day started very early with Gracie's vet visit. The vet was nice though and examined her, gave her fluids and kept her for a few hours and only charged us $21 for the medication. I looked it up and she's been taking generic Xanax (Alprazolam). Makes the poor thing a combination of drunk and really high. She's got a little drunken stagger going on and she's not quite as coordinated as she should be. Like, she tries to jump up on the couch but doesn't always quite make it. She also starts meowing for no reason and can't seem to stop and isn't even aware she's doing it. But, it's helped her get more rest and she's been in the litterbox a fraction of the amount she was before.
Love had to run some last minute errands later in the day. And we had to run out and grab some items to bring for the two family events as well. I also had cookies to bake and didn't finish my last batch until about 11:30pm. It was a LONG day and I was beat.
Saturday 25th – I would have liked to sleep in but of course, we had to get our Christmas morning started early since we had two places to be. So we got up around 8am and did our exchange. I bought Love a TomTom GPS which he absolutely is in love with and has been using constantly – even joking that he found his way to Taco Bell yesterday at lunch, despite of course already knowing where the Taco Bell is since it's 2 miles from his work – so that was a winner. I also got him Red Steel 2 and Mario Galaxy 2 for the Wii. (I used some of my Amazon gift certificates I've earned from Swagbucks for his gifts. I'm up to like $110 from just searching! You should sign up!!) Love got me an e-reader, a jacket and a shawl type item. The e-reader (a Pandigital Novel) looked awesome on paper because it had like the best stats and features, but sadly, was so horribly sluggish and unresponsive, we returned it. I think I'm going to get a Nook instead. Just a regular Nook, not the Nook color. The Nook color is cool, but it's $100 more and I'm concerned about reading long-term on an LCD anyway instead of using E-Ink.) He was bummed that the reader wasn't cool but I'm not upset at all. I would have thought it was a great pick too based on the stats and such.
We had to be at Love's cousin's house at 11am but wound up getting off to a later start than we had hoped and got there closer to 11:30pm. They live about an hour away and off of like 2 miles of unpaved road. It was a pothole nightmare! We got to try out the new GPS though and it worked like a charm. We chipped in with Love's brother to get their parents a little fire pit for their back patio. They got Love a Mark Twain autobiography and gave me a gift cards to Books A Million.
After that, we headed to my Mom's. (And, again, the GPS was perfect!) Mom and my sister chipped in together and got me a Chi flat iron. I've wanted one for a long time since they're supposed to be the best but they're just too expensive for me to justify buying. I got Mom an adorable cat-shaped tea cozy for her teapot (she wanted a tea cozy and the cat one was just so perfect) which she loved. I got some candles for my sister she wanted. I also got some socks and the latest Frosty Friends ornament from my mom.
We got back home around 7pm or so. Another long day! But it was a pretty good day overall, even if it was a little stressful trying to get around to everyone's on time. Plus we were a little worried about Gracie but she was fine. (High, but fine.)
Sunday 26th – Love went to breakfast with his folks. I slept in. We both started feeling a little stirrings of a possible cold and I just did not feel like doing anything. I vegged on the couch most of the afternoon. We briefly ran out to get some food and I grabbed some xmas cards for next year and some bows at 50% off at Target while we were there. Mostly though, I didn't do much.
Monday 27th – Back to work Monday after 5 days off. That was tough. Plus, I was still feeling sick.
Today, Tuesday 28th – Cold is still making me feel tired, achy and my nose is all runny/sneezy/snotty. Attractive. I'm at work and am just totally not into being here. The place is dead again today. At least we can wear jeans all week so that's nice. Tomorrow, I have to drop Gracie off for her x-rays/sonogram in the morning (another early day for me) and we'll see what those reveal. I'm worried it'll be bad news or be something that requires surgery because then I don't know what I'd do. She's been doing better – going to the litter box less and in-and-out of the litter box very quickly when she does go (instead of being in there 10+ minutes at a time) – so that's good. But she's pretty drugged up so how much is just her being stoned I don't know.
That's the recap though. I guess I should pretend to go back to work now. 2.5 hours left to go. Feels like an eternity. Just want to cuddle up and sleep.
Please send good thoughts for Gracie tomorrow for good news.
