We brought her in to the vet this morning – just showed up. They saw her pretty quickly. They wanted to keep her to give her fluids and do a urinalysis. So far, the specific gravity of the urine is low. That tends to point towards a kidney problem. They need to send blood work out to get more info. She definitely does NOT have a UTI and she also is not diabetic. Beyond that…we don’t know.
So far the tally is as follows:
$220 for the vet visit/observation/fluids/UA
$197 for the blood work
So I have no idea where this money is supposed to come from but we literally can’t get an answer without blood work. Love is terrified that she has kidney failure. I’m trying to not focus on the worst-case scenario yet. We’ll pick her back up in a couple hours but the results won’t be in until Monday. Not sure what exactly to do until then; I guess we’ll find out that from the vet when we get her.
I’m really worried right now. Really scared and overwhelmed.
Here’s hoping Gracie makes a full recovery from whatever this is. Are there any animal charities in your area that could help or does your vets do split payments?
Thinking of you and Gracie.
Thanks – I actually got good news this morning. (I’ve updated with a new post.) I was also able to get approved on some veterinary credit card so the bill got paid. I’ve heard bad things about the company that does it but…I needed to do something, so we’ll see how that goes.
