Today is 4 weeks since my surgery. It’s another benchmark in the recovery. Still no heavy lifting and I still have to take it slow and easy, but I’m allowed to do a little more than before. According to my discharge paperwork from the hospital:
4 to 6 weeks – Heavier activities – shopping, light sports, normal light housewwork, etc.
It’s funny to me that “shopping” is considered a heavy activity. I guess they’re thinking grocery shopping where you’re lifting things into your cart and then carrying them to your car and such. All that kind of stuff is still on my no-no list. 10lbs limit for 6 weeks minimum. Means I can’t even pick up my kitties. The fat one is WAY over the limit and even the little one is more than 10lbs! 😀
Incisions continue to heal. They’re looking smaller and less red all the time. The left side one is still kinda reddish-purple in color (more so than it looks in photos) but the rest are really getting lighter and smaller very quickly. Here’s a look from a few minutes ago:
I’m also feeling a lot better in general. Much like when I hit my 2 week mark, I think hitting 4 weeks is a good point for self-evaluation. I’ve been able to do more lately and though I still get tired and fatigued, it’s less all-consuming then it was. The incisions themselves are much less painful too. Only every now-and-then do I get aches and twinges from them. But it’s not constant like before. The only incision really being a pain is my belly button as I mentioned in my last entry. But, given the weird and ever-changing symptoms of healing, I’m sure it’ll get better eventually.
So I just wanted to give a quick update since today is a big occasion in the post-op hysterectomy surgery healing timeline. 4 weeks down, two more to go until my next appointment with my gyno, and still moving forward in healing. 🙂
