Canon has a 50mm f/1.8 lens that’s known as the “Nifty Fifty” because it’s a great little lens for cheap. It’s like $110 right now on amazon for example. With savvy shopping, you can often even find it for less. The lens is known for being tack sharp and great for portraits and other detail work.
I have wanted it for awhile now. And I have been using the site Expo to earn amazon giftcards for the past couple of months. Last week, I saved up enough to pay for my lens. (Seriously. Sign up for Expo. It’s the easiest of this kind of site to get rewards I’ve ever participated in. You simply do product review videos and earn points. You get like at least 500 points per video and $5/amazon is 600 points. It adds up so fast!)
Anyway, my lens arrived last night. So today I wanted to try it and just took a couple quickie shots of Mika sitting on my bed. Literally just point and shoot at her. Man they came out great. The reviews are not kidding about how nice and crisp of a photo this little lens takes!!
Two thumbs up for the Nifty Fifty! And the only thing better than a great lens is one you got for free. 😉
