I’ve been doing research on suggestions trying to find ANYTHING that will help cover the cost of the surgery. So far I’m completely striking out.
First, I looked for emergency medicaid. Turns out, in Florida you have to be either:
1) Low income WITH KIDS
2) Children only
3) Pregnant
4) A NON citizen (what?? Seriously? Fuck)
5) Elderly and/or disabled.
Then I looked at short term medical insurance and personal insurance polices. ALL of which exclude any condition for which you have been treated by a doctor anywhere in the last 12-months to five years depending on the policy. I literally can NOT find a single plan that does not have pre-existing condition clauses. And the Health Care reform getting rid of pre-existing condition does not become law for adults until 2014. Obviously I can’t exactly wait that long.
Even if Love and I got married ($109 fee and a THREE DAY waiting period, wtf??) his insurance would still exclude this coverage as a pre-existing condition.
I am searching high-and-low across the internet for help and options but…there’s nothing for a 34-year old childless woman who’s job doesn’t offer medical and who doesn’t have enough money to pay for her needed medical care out of pocket. I’m still researching but shit…this is so frustrating!!!
Oh, sweetheart, I wish I wasn’t dead broke and that there was something I could do for you. I wish this wasn’t happening to you. I wish I had something better to say. *gentle hugs*
Thanks, I appreciate the thoughts. If you know anyone who wants some jewelry, point ’em my way if you could. I’m going to be without income from the day job for a month on top of the whole money up front thing so…ugh.
