Reminder...

There are people on the net that have nothing better to do with their time then be nasty to other people online. They post rude comments, spend hours a day talking about sites they hate so much, that they well, spend hours a day talking about them. (lame) They mock the owners and posters for their opinions and their right to free speech. They expect everyone to fit into their narrow-minded little world view or else they throw a temper tantrum.

To these people I say grow up.

Here's a bit of info people...the web is a HUGE place. If you don't like what I say here, or who I am, or what I do, or talk about, or what I look like, or the color of my hair, or whatever asinine thing you dwell on, go somewhere else. It's really, really easy. Honest. You just click the little "x" in the corner of your browser and *poof* the offending, big, mean and nasty site has disappeared.

I pay for this site. It's mine. That means I can use it for whatever the hell I want to. Don't like it if I'm bitching about something in my life? Oh fucking well. Go somewhere else. Think I'm stupid for expressing my thoughts? Too fucking bad, don't read them. Somewhere along the line, someone forgot this simple fact: Live and let live Don't like me, cool, fine, whatever, I don't care. This journal is NOT for you. It's for me. I'm not in it for popularity or fame or anything stupid like that. I write it because I need to write and express myself and get things out of my head sometimes. So read or don't, it doesn't matter, but don't waste my time (or yours) bitching about it.

The Weekend Cometh
So the long-awaited weekend approaches. Long-awaited because it's our anniversary this weekend. Seven long years. *chuckles* And, as a celebration, we're heading out to Disney for the day. We had originally wanted to make a weekend of it - hotel stay and all - but the funds just weren't there. It's a tight squeeze just to do the day but it's worth it to us because I think we deserve at least a day if we can't do a mini-vacation. So I'm excited because I'm really jonesing for Disney. It's been far too long. Money's been far too tight and we just haven't been able to go like we did when our car was more stable and we could afford the seasonal passes. (Which are an amazing deal. It's $60 for one day or $200 for nine months. It's just hard to come up with $400 at any one time. Ok, not hard, impossible these days.) Anyway, I'm really looking forward to a nice day and a nice getaway.

It's deceiving outside. It looks all dull and overcast and dreary. Looks like a winter day but it's 86F with a feels-like of 93F out there. Very muggy. Tomorrow's forecast for Orlando looks like it's going to be more of the same but hopefully it won't be unbearably hot. If it's cloudy like today that'll help.

Tinkered around just a smidge with the layout last night. Added a few new links and a new section called, "Support" with links to a couple animal charities. While I don't want people to suffer, I have significantly more empathy and concern for animals (especially pets) and I fear they don't have nearly as much of a voice or presence as human charities do. One of them is PetCancerAwareness.org. Those of you who are long-time readers will remember my two-year struggle with cancer with my beloved cat, Kush-ka. It sadly resulted in his death in 2003. Anyway, it's a charity that I can really relate to. Cancer is the number one disease-related cause of deaths for dogs and cats and an estimated 20% of dog and cat owners will face this tragedy. They have some of those popular "Livestrong" type rubber bracelets for a donation of $2 (including shipping) which is an easy way to make a donation and help spread awareness. I've orderd one for myself. It'd also be good if you have a journal or site of your own to link to them to help get the word out. I know a lot of you really cherish your animal companions like I do.

Anyway, just getting everything ready and together for tomorrow. Already charged the batteries for my camera and emptied the memory card. Just need to put everything in my backpack and make sure I run through the checklist. Heh. Oh yeah, need to charge the iPod. See? There's always something to remember.

Ok, well I'm kinda just babbling here so I think I'll close out. Hope everyone has a nice weekend.

Change Is In The Air
Or at least on my journal. After six long months of the Spring "Bloom" layout, I've finally finished a new version: Change (Fall 2005). I have been meaning to change the layout now for months but nothing seemed to work for me. I just couldn't get what I wanted. So with today being offically the start of Autumn - otherwise known as Mabon or the Autumnal Equinox - it seemed no better time to make myself bring about the change. Today, night and day are equal in length. It is the end of the Summer and the slow decent into the darker times of winter. From here on out, each day shall be shorter then the one before and each night longer then the last. It is a time of change, of preparedness and a passing of one thing into another.

Please let me know if you exeperience any problems with the new layout. From my side, everything appears fine, but we know how trixy computers can be.

So welcome Autumn and welcome Change.

Rain - Spoke too soon!
In typical Florida fashion, pretty much as soon as I published the last entry, it started to pour. It's hard to photograph and it doesn't even look as intense on video, but here's a small quicktime movie if you're curious. (3.4meg)

Rainy rain day!

Taken from my 3rd floor balcony. You can see the rain sheeting sideways! :)

And in also typical Florida fashion, the storm is already passing right now. It's quite calm out there now as opposed to 15 minutes ago. Though the thunder keeps rumbling.

Happy Mail, Rain and PC Update
Ok, maybe not in that order.

I was wrong, Love enabled the on-board sound AND video to try to bypass the IRQ errors and crashes. And so far *knock on wood* it hasn't crashed once. Problem is that I think the memory in the video card really helped because now...ugh...everything is lagging and chugging. Like reading friend's blogs or my LJ friend's page it keeps stalling for a second. So I think Love's going to try to get a no-frills video card (my old one was only a GeForce2 T something or another so it's not like it was overly modern) to help. Hopefully, it was just the old vid card going bad or just an incompatability and if I get a different one, I won't go back to the errors. Because while I'm enjoying being crash free for the moment, the lag is really giving me a headache.

Rain...today it's not as gusty as it was yesterday. Though it's kinda dark and thundery (it's rumbling right now as I type this) and it's been raining on-and-off. Oh and it's only around 90F but it's a feels-like of 100F. *falls over*

(as of around 3:35pm)

Happy Mail..oh now this is a good one. I signed up for a Pagan swap on an LJ community called, Full Moon Swaps I sent out my package on Saturday (filled with fun stuff like a jar of sand and shells, photos, incense, candles, a journal and such) and I got my package yesterday.

Songtoisis was the lady who did my half of the swap and she sent an absolutely lovely package full of fun stuff. I just kept pulling out item after item and grinning from ear-to-ear. I love mail and it's even more amazing to get not only mail, but a package AND a package of cool pagany/witchy stuff.

So big thanks for such a fun swap. I can't wait until the next swap. (It's full moon swaps because you send out your package before the full moon of the month.) I had a blast getting my items together for my swapee and a ton of fun getting a package in return.

*grins*

I want to work on overhauling my journal. Actually, I've been wanting to do it for months but nothing's been inspiring me. I think I know the colors I want to use though and so I hope to work on it some today and tonight and maybe tomorrow. So if it suddenly changes, well, that's why.

Ok, that's all from the peanut gallery for now.

FYI: Rita
For those of you wondering, Rita is thankfully far to the south of me. We've got some rain and 16mph winds with gusts to 24mph at the moment but we're under no real serious weather alerts. It'll be a little windy and a little rainy as we get some of the bands but at the moment, central and west-central Florida is under no real threat.

(I'm over where the arrow is pointing)

I know a lot of people remember I'm in Florida and tend to get a little nervous for info when there's a hurricane so close. Thankfully this one isn't coming towards us. I only hope the rest of the Gulf coast comes through it as well.

Horn Reminder!
Well, with a different video card, on-board sound and a new network card, let's see how thing go from here...

This is a reminder...Halloween is getting closer. And what better accessory for halloween then your very own pair of custom horns?

They're a great part of a costume or! for those of you who want something more subtle but still a ton of fun, they make a costume of their own. Last year, I had to run errands on Halloween, so I went out and about in my pair of horns for the day. What fun I had! I've also worn them to work and received a lot of compliments. They're great for parties and they do double work if you go clubbing or are a fan of Ren Faires. I look for reasons to wear my pairs throughout the year.

I sell them on ebay this time of year but you can order then direct for less. (Ebay ones are generally a couple dollars more to help cover my listing costs and fees.) If you don't see exactly what you like on PhoenixFire Designs, just email me and we'll come up with something different. Like a style but want a different color? No problem. Want it smaller or larger? Can do! There's an extreme amount of variation possible and I'm always happy to take custom orders.

The last two years, I've had a couple dozen very happy customers from all around the world (literally!) and I'm looking to make a good third season as well. So keep in mind what you'd like and let me know. I often get busier the closer to Halloween we get so it's best to put your order in a little earlier. (Plus it saves you on shipping so I don't have to send it rushed.)

The sky's the limit! So take a look around, tell me what you like, and let's get your order in now. :)

My Pc Hates Me
I don't know what it is. It's becoming irritatingly recurring frequency. Perfectly fine and running systems just get...unstable when I use them. And it's not like I'm some ignorant n00bie with computers! I'm a pretty decent power-user of my system and I know what's good and what's bad with them. I know how to avoid spyware and viruses and I never have problems like that with my system. And yet.... I'm always having crash and instabilty errors. It's like the system will be perfectly fine. Stable. Normal. Then literally out of nowhere, BSOD. And another. And another. No software changes, no hardware changes. No changes in how I use the computer. Same programs as always but suddenly absolutely no stability.

I've been getting erros (nv4_mini.sys) which track to my video card. But there's nothign wrong with it. And even updating the drivers doesn't help.

I'm getting IRQ errors (driver_irq_not_less_or_equal) even though none of my hardware has changed, nor have I added any.

I'm getting STOP errors that result in zero information or understanding of why.

Today, I'm here, chatting and bam! BSOD. Reboot. Get to my desktop. Bam! BSOD. Reboot. Get to my desktop, nothing's running and try to run my anti-virus scan to see if there's something wonky in my system somehow. Bam. BSOD.

And it's not just today. It's been over a week it's doing this. Love doesn't know what's wrong or why it keeps doing this kind of thing. There's nothing wrong with it and yet, it just keeps going through these phases where it dies all the time, out of nowhere and for no apparent reason. It's been stable for months. Before that, it was crashing several times a day. Before that, it was stable. Now we're back into crashing and we don't know why. We go through all the hoops - last time, replacing ram and things to see if it was a physical issue but none of it worked and then it just stopped happening and went away like it never was a problem. Again, this time, we're looking at this random problem that just doesn't make sense. Love does this for a living! He manages over 600 pc's at his work. And he's continually baffled at why my perfectly fine computer systems always take a nose-dive.

I mean I'm really starting to think it's me. I'm really starting to believe that despite the fact I do everything right when it comes to using a computer, that something about computers and I are totally incompatable. I love my computer. I don't know why it hates me so much in return.

It's like the first car I ever had. Hated me. And only me. Stalled literally everytime I'd apply the brakes. But only if I drove it. If the mechanic drove it, or my mom did, it purred like a kitten. The car just had this physical grudge against me. I just broke the car for some reason that doesn't add up in reality. Seems to be the same with me and computers. And the problem just seems to get worse each year.
