I want to share some of my favorite products, services and providers with you here on my blog. There’s a lot of great things out there and I want to help bring attention to the people and places who deserve notice and support.
Today, I’m going to tell you about an absolutely amazing Licensed Massage Therapist (LMT) named Shelly Moye. I’ve known Shelly for years. We worked together when I was an Admin Assistant at the massage studio. As a perk of the job, I was given a free massage every month. I had my pick of about a dozen therapists. In fact, we were encouraged to try everyone so we could give first-hand opinions to clients. I tried a few, but once I experienced a massage from Shelly, there was no going back! I was hooked.
The reason I wanted to tell you about her now is that this year she opened a beautiful new Wellness Studio. It’s a stunning location and her, along with her partners, offer a wonderful array of healthy-living services.
For those of you who don’t know, I have permanent damage in my neck. It’s a major source of migraines for me and the problems in my neck turn into problems in my shoulders, which turn into problems in my arms and so on. I have tried various things over the years including chiropractors and other massage therapists in the past seeking help with the chronic pain. But I never really found the relief and actual help I needed until I met Shelly. Now I see her as often as I can (I aim for once a month, but often I wind up letting it go for a few months before limping back in) and she makes a real difference in my quality of life.
Shelly is both a Licensed Massage Therapist and Certified Lymphedema Therapist with 20 years of experience. Services offered include:
- Deep tissue, relaxation, hot stone massage
- Chinese fire cupping
- Treatment for Lymphedema including Complete Decongestive Therapy
- Manual Lymphatic Drainage and compression bandaging
- Manual Lymphatic Drainage sessions
When most people think of massage, they’re thinking of Swedish Massage; the light, soft touch, relaxation kind. It’s a valid and enjoyable form of massage but it’s not the only type.
I get what’s known as “Deep Tissue Massage.” This is much more therapeutic in nature and helps physically to loosen up knots in muscles. It’s the kind of massage you’re actually a little sore afterwards but in a good way because you get improved range of movement and some relief from those painful trigger spots.
I have never experienced any LMT who was able to so quickly hone in on the problem spots! She knows so much about physiology and truly has a rare passion for helping people. I can’t recommend her enough.
