Exactly one year ago today, I was doing my surgery pre-op. I had my final ultrasound with my gyno, registered at the hospital, was given my surgical date and time, met with the anesthesiologist and even had my living will/medical directive notarized.
I was two days away from my surgery and these were the final hurdles to jump before I’d be truly ready to go.
I remember what a busy day it was, running around from one location to the other. My Mom came with me to the hospital and we did all the registration steps together. I remember when I first got there, my blood pressure and pulse rate were through the roof. I was so nervous. After sitting and talking and going over things, I had calmed down a little and didn’t quite look like I was ready to explode anymore.
It was so scary. And so surreal to be planning for the surgery in the first place. This was the first time I ever had surgery so every bit of the process was new to me.
Just so weird to think where I was last year this time and where I am today.
