Hectic Holiday
Busy, busy, busy! I just haven’t had time for much lately online including the blog. Working hard on last-minute shop sales, running to the post office every day to mail out completed orders, trying to get the last of our own holiday shopping and such done, normal household errands to run, and I still have cookies to bake, presents to wrap and another trip (or two!) to the post office to make all this week.
Which is why it’s like 2:16am and I’m squeezing in a quick entry now of all times!
Unfortunately, the downside of all this busy-busy-busy is that I’m really overdoing it and having a few steps back pain-wise from surgery. I’m 10 1/2 weeks post-op (11 weeks on Wednesday) and while that sounds like a lot, full recovery from a hysterectomy is after all, upwards of a year! Realistically, this is still pretty early-on in my recovery, even though I’ve come a long way already.
Externally, my incisions are looking great and yes, I was cleared from my restrictions back at my six week post-op on November 17th but being cleared and being able to do everything are clearly two different things. I’m back to being sore and achy pretty much constantly and back on ibuprofen several times a day, each day. Talking with other ladies on a hysterectomy support forum, this is apparently common exactly at this stage when you start overdoing it.
But, too many things to do to slow down. I’ll have to slow down after the holidays because between now and then, the list is a mile long. (Including the 20lb turkey Love somehow committed us to cooking for his family’s Christmas dinner. ) And, of course, being unemployed and seriously in medical bill debt, I’m certainly not going to turn away sales because after the holidays, they’ll probably dry up. Need ’em while I can get ’em. (Especially because my unemployment claim is still pending.
So…busy, sore, tired but many more things to do and get done this week! For now though, bed. I’m beat. Hope your holiday season isn’t nearly as hectic!

October 2013 Update: Happy 2 Year Anniversary!! I'm amazed at how different life is two years later. Though the hardest thing I've ever been through in my life, I've grown so much as a result of having overcome such terrifying and daunting medical issues. In a weird way, I'm better for having experienced these hardships. I'm more sure of myself these days and more confident I can face life's challenges better.
I have tried to turn this medical challenge into an opportunity and using this as a means to push forward with my small jewelry business and as a way to support myself again.
Your continued support is appreciated right now and even links to my shop are appreciated. Thank you to everyone who's helped and spread the word. All of you helped make it possible for me to be here and healthy.:: calendar ::
