Downtown St. Petersburg
After a late start and braving rain, we made our way to downtown St. Pete this afternoon. We did wind up getting rained on, but only briefly. This is Florida after all, and in 10 minutes or so, the rain had given way to sunshine. There was an art festival going on but we got […]
Rainy Saturday
The forecast says, “1.47 inches of rain coming your way” which I find amusing. It’s so specific a number. It’s still sunny outside currently, but if you look at the expanded radar, it’s clearly on it’s way. Which is good because we’re in an “extreme drought” situation here in the Tampa Bay Area. (And indeed, […]
Afternoon at the Beach
Yesterday the weather was beautiful. The kind of gorgeous day people think Florida always is like but in truth, rarely if ever actually has. It’s normally sweltering by April. But, the temperature was hovering around 80F (26C) and with low humidity plus a breeze, it was just lovely. We wanted to get outside and enjoy […]
Touch of Winter
As we left John’s Pass on Friday, a cool wind started to blow. It was the herald of our refreshing touch of winter this weekend. Friday night brought first rain, then crazy, strong winds. Living in Florida, that’s how you know a front is moving in; it always comes in on the wind. We woke […]
BRR!
Very, very cold day in Florida. But cold one day only. Feels-like 39F out there (4C) and tonight down to 28F (2C)!! Of course, tomorrow, we’re right back up to 60F (16C), which while cold for us, is nowhere near as cold as today! The winds howled all night bringing the cold front out way.
Too Warm!
The warm weather is depressing me. It’s just been too damned warm this December. The historic average should be about 71F (22C) this time of year but it’s running about 80F (27C) instead. How can you feel “Christmasy” when it’s 80 damned degrees outside and you’re in shorts and a tee? Still got the A/C […]
Crazy Early Morning Thunderstorms
Holy crap it was SCARY this morning! I woke up around 6:30am to the sounds of an insanely powerful thunderstorm raging outside. It was absolutely pouring out and the lightning was blindingly bright. The thunder, which came instantly on the heels of the lightning, would BOOM and shake the apartment and literally rattle items on […]
Updates
Just some general updates of what’s been going on lately… Love’s MRI Results came back. Everything is fine. Which is good but…it leaves us still having no clue what’s causing his miserable, debilitating vertigo. The ENT gave him a round of antivirals and heavy dose 1-week pack of prednisone to see if it helps. Kind […]
Wednesday
It poured all day yesterday. I mean, all day long. That’s unusual for Florida to have hours and hours of sustained downpour like that. This morning, the sky rumbled and grumbled and let loose even more rain. It’s overcast now with scattered showers to continue through late afternoon. The good thing is that it keeps […]
Holy Crap It’s Hot
Had to duck inside for a few minutes to cool down. I was getting overheated. Turns out the reason I’m so hot is that it’s a feels-like of 110F outside!! Holy hell that’s hot!! Slow day so far. About $11 in sales and hardly anyone by. Jeez, I hope it picks up. We still have […]
A/C Problems Continued
Jeez, the maintenance guy just left after 45 minutes again. I had to call the office because it was 80F (27C) in here and the a/c wouldn’t turn on no matter what I set it on. So he came out, took the whole wall unit apart and changed a capacitor. It’s running again but now […]
The Return of the A/C Problems
So, awesome news…Love was driving home yesterday and stopped to get gas. When he turned the car back on after pumping, the air conditioning wouldn’t turn on. At all. Nothing happens when he turns the knob. The fan’s not kicking on at all. It was just working prior to stopping for gas and there’s been […]
